| Reading Tarot: The Three Card Spread |
|
When reading tarot, it is essential that you use the correct spread, with each one offering a different affinity towards answering certain questions. In the case of basic inquiries that ask for a three-pronged response, you should always use a three card spread, placing each card into position to show the full outcome of any given situation. When dealing with a three card spread, you should consider the context carefully. The quierant (or the one who is asking the questions) will give you the information you need, and from there you have to be specific in your interpretations. For instance, when the question is asked work out what the three prongs of the response will be. Are they asking about the way the past, present, and future will effect a situation? Do they want to know the spiritual, mental, and emotional implications of an action? Once you have worked out the best three prongs for the spread, you shuffle the cards in whatever manner you usually would, and you lay them down into position, deciding and focusing before hand on what each position will symbolize. This will relate a direct context to the question, and so give you a more personalized meaning for the answer. Remember, the spread is just as important as the cards themselves in unlocking the mysteries of Tarot. Not that you know what a three card spread is, and how to lay one down, let's give you a quick example of a reading: - Question: What has will happen with my career, love life, and health?
In this case it would show a new job opportunity in the first position, a new romance blooming in the second, and a possible illness looming in the third. This spread makes it easy to answer all life's questions, without having to question the interpretation based on the position. |
